FIRST I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH HOW HANDY THIS DEVICE IS, I AM HUNTING THREE LITTLE LEAGUE BALL PARKS INWHICH ARE HEAVILY LOADED WITH COINS (LIKE EVERY SIX INCHES. MY QUESTION IS DO YOU FOLKS TURN OFF THE PIN POINTER AFTER EVERY COIN OR DO YOU JUST LEAVE IT ON. PERHAPS BY TURNING IT OFF EVERYTIME YOU SAVE BATTERY LIFE (WHICH TRUELY INSN'T BAD AT ALL TO BEGIN WITH. BY THE SAME TOKEN THE WEAR ON THE BUTTON MAY BE TREMENDOUS. ON THE OTHER HAND BY LEAVING IT ON YOU REDUCE THE WEAR AND TEAR ON THE BUTTON. BUT YOUR BATTERY LIFE IS SHORTEN. JUST WANT SOME OPINONS ON THIS MATTER THANKS.

I turn it off every time I finish using it. First because once I place it again on my belt it starts beeping since there is metal near the detector. Second I don't see a probem with the button. It is a good button and if it ever breaks is a super easy replacement.

I turn it off after every recovery as It is always going off near my shovels or something else. It is a handy little tool.

Once I turn it on for a recovery it stays on until I retrieve it. My battery lasts a long time. It's just a pain to keep turning it off and on. Save you some time and leave it on.........

Mine is on throughout a recovery, then off in the sheath until I dig again...
If it is doing it's job and breaks, you've found enough to afford another... :garrett: :detecting: :clapping:

HH,

Hi, I turn on my pointer when I start to dig and turn it off before plugging the hole to complete the objective. The source battery has lasted me six months, the first are always more awkward they are to learn. The button is solid and durable. It is a must.
un saludo

I turn my pointer on when I'm probing inside the hole or plug, once I find the target and remove it, I do another sweep in the hole to see if I missed anything, then I turn it off until I dig another signal. Great unit, very durable. I've dropped mine on concrete by accident a few times and it still works like the day I got it :)
