FIRST OF ALL IT IS A REAL ASSET IN SCHOOL YARDS, BALL PARKS ETC. AND I AM REALLY ENJOYING IT TREMENDOUSLY, MY QUESTION IS DO YOU GUYS WHEN USING IT IN AN AREA HEAVY CONCENTRATED WITH COINS, DO YOU TURN IT OFF EVERY TIME YOU HAVE LOCATED THE COIN OR ITEM, KNOWING WITHIN THE NEXT SIX TO TWELVE INCHES THERE GOING TO BE ANOTHER ONE. OR DO YOU JUST LEAVE IT ON CONTINUOUSLY. I GUESS IT TWO WAYS TO LOOK AT IT ONE WAY BY TURNING IT OFF YOU MIGHT BE SAVING BATTERY LIFE,( WHICH ISN'T THAT BAD TO BEGIN WITH) OR ON THE OTHIER HAND IT MIGHT SAVE A LOT OF WEAR ON THE PUSH BUTTON. JUST WANT YOUR OPINION PLEASE. THANKS

I turn it off every time I finish with mine but that's because I hold it in my left hand along with either a flat head screwdriver or my Predator digging tool, so the metal would make it squawk at me constantly. I dig lots of targets so that's why I keep my pro pointer and digging tool handy.....in my hand:thumbup:

Never really thought about it, but I turn mine off every time, I hat putting it in the holster and hunting along and the darn thing goes off when something metal gets close. Kind of for a second or so I think some kind of monster bee has got hold of me.

I turn it off each time. If I didn't it would be sounding off because of how I carry it.

I turn mine off every time. Not only because 9v batteries are expensive, but also because it is strapped to my belt right next to my Lesche digger ..

I turn it off even though it's got very good battery life and I get about a year out of a 9V with it. Until I find the target I leave it on laying on the ground while digging more and stuff, but when it goes back on my left hip I turn it off. Also, I don't like leaving it on for say more than a minute or two even if I'm digging, so I'll turn it back off for a second if it's been taking me time to dig deeper to find the target....Because sometimes when it sits turned out on a few minutes or so it can start to drift it's tuning I guess because it sometimes will start falsing, or false in error in the hole when trying to find the target. So if I think it's ever falsing on a phantom target I'll turn it off and back on to reset it.

Also, here's a tip. If the ground in rare situations causes it to falsely sound off then turn it on with the tip touching the ground (no metal around of course) and it will auto adjust a bit lower to not sound off to ground minerals. I've rarely had to do that, though, and my soil is somewhat mineralized.

i turn mine off every time to save battery life. I have had several, and the switch, the only time I had trouble with it, I dont think was from the number of time it was cycled. If goes and goes thousands of time. The only time I had trouble was when elbow deep in mud I think some moisture made it past the little rubber button. I noticed there was some rust around the switch inside when I looked down in the hole. CO

easily accessible and cheap. Just buy a velcro band at WallyWorld.
