Garrett Owner: Officially!

Dick from IA

New member
As of today I'm happy to be a :garrett: Owner & not just someone considering one. After weeks of analyzing and way too much re-analyzing, I made the decision and placed my order.

Bought an Ace 250 with the Stock and Sniper coils; plus the Ace Bag; plus the Ace Cap (Hey, gotta look the part, right?) Woulda bought the T-Shirt, too, but they don't have T-Shirts:(

Got it from Beetle at Bill's Detector Sales, Alexandria KY (a member of this Forum, BTW)

Thanks to everyone here for their advice and guidance. You all are the main reason I bought a :garrett:

...good for you Dick. I have been testing the Ace 250 against several other machines latley and Ill tell you these things:

It is VERY sensitive and you need to start in the mid SENS settings, ie, 4-5. Not breaking news, but a must-do. Otherwise, it will honk and bleat too much to make sense, especially in trash.

And thats the other thing. It aint subtle - if theres something there worth finding, it will announce it! Stay in the Jewelry mode at first, or the AllMetal, so you get an understanding of what the signals mean.

Good Hunting

You have just joined a wonderful fraternity of Garrett users. To shorten your learning curve, ask lots of questions and get out and practice, practice, practice and practice. :) The better finds don't consistently come up for a while, and be prepared to dig lots of junk! We all do too

I think you will be pretty happy with it.
It's pretty easy to use and read once you get
the hang. May not be the best in the west, but
I think it's the best for $200. :) I too circled
around it like a dog fixin to lie down. But came
to the conclusion it was the one to get. I didn't
wanna spend half a zillion bucks on one at this point.

Seems we are both pretty much in the same boat. Just ordered the 250 yesterday myself, and just getting accustomed it's sibling the 150. Keep us posted on how it's working out for you.

Thanks for the Welcomes.

Should receive the 250 by Friday so plan an outing for it definitely this weekend.

Frozen ground limits the hunting areas, but picked-over playground wood chips should be a challenging beginning.

Hopefully no blizzards:thumbdown:

My :garrett: Ace 250 is on the way also. I want to have some fun too. :detecting: It's nice to get a detector that's getting rave reviews everywhere and an extra coil for less than I paid for my PP'er. :lmfao::thumbup:
