Garrett June find of the month

Congratulations on the find and the win!

B...E.....A....UTIFUL!!!!!!! That's an awesome coin dude! :clapping:

I sent it to PCGS to have it graded. They couldn't grade it because of scratches on the obverse. They did certify it as Genuine. The GTI 2500 indicated a dime at 8" and that is where it was. The soil in Holcomb Valley is DG and doesn't hold moisture for long. Square nails, brass buttons, buckles and the cans the old miners used are in remarkable condition also. This is the first old coin I found in the area but I know of others. The fever has been started once again in the family!

Yeah years ago I wrote an article about a lost mine in that area whereas the guy dug a shaft straight down ( quite deep ) to the main vein and used chicken ladders to go up and down. He made his own mold, melted his gold down, made his own ingots in the shape of bisquits, and cashed them in and bought goods with them in the local town. This mine loaded with a stash of those ingots has never been found.
