garrett infinium??

bigun

New member
Hi all you guys over the big pond ,i was wondering how many of y,all are using the garrett infinium,s on the beaches they dont seem to be real popular over here in oz.:goodnight::pulltab::garrett: terry

I bought one three months ago. Worked good on land ,but doesn't work good in salt water .I traded it in and bought an excal 1000 and LOVE it.I also bought a straight shaft from RON'S DIXIE METAL DETECTORS.com

well must be the same here as a guy told me there were 3 of them for sale on the gold fields???????? terry

I have had mine now for a few months and have used it on the beaches of Florida, New Jersey, Maine, and Mass, it works great in salt water with no issues. I also use it on land in parks and for gold prospecting in Alaska.

I have beaten the learning curve by going to this web site.

The tricks to using this unit are simple and I wont be selling mine!

I have also posted some tricks I have learned about this machine on this site. One of the biggest tips is to ballance the frequencies prior to use when going to salt water (this not required everywhere or with all the coils). With 96 of them running this trick has worked everytime and makes this unit extremly quiet on the beach or in salt water. You can read about this trick on the P2P forum, no more noise in the water. This unit has it's tricks if you don't learn them all you end up selling it frustrated and all you have done was waist your money when all you needed was to learn a few tricks. This is no differant than buying the Andy S book on the Quattro and learning what Minelab didn't tell you.

I love mine and would'nt part with it. I have the standard 10x14DD the 5x10DD and the 8"Mono. I use the 8" mono at the beach which is the most sensative coil and may not be the best choice but my frequency balancing has made this coil extremly stable. I use the 5x10"DD for fresh water and parks.

I agree with Black Davy that there is a learning curve. I changed to the 8" mono in salt water here in Bermuda and found my problems went away. I have found many gold rings, clad etc and every time I use my infinium ls things just keep getting better. My buddy here has the excal 1000 as is now thinking he should switch to the infinium. I have searched the are the excal has been used very heavily and found target the excal would not pick up.
KEEP YOUR GARRETT and try new things as it is one GREAT detector.

We'll have to hit the south shore beaches in November once the crowds are gone and the low season kicks in.
I still can't make up my mind about adding a PI machine to my arsenal but I am still researching machines for just the right amount of HEAT. Still lovin' my Excal mind you, I just don't have the time to swing it lately.
Work, work, work - That's all I do!
I'll have to borrow your Infinium again now that you have switched to the 8" coil and see how it sounds, the 14" drove me NUTZ! Garrett might have more success if they shipped the unit with a coil that allowed an easier learning curve, so people could get the hang of the machine without becoming totally frustrated.(I thought you were going to pitch yours in the ocean during the early going):rage:
Now, shouldn't you be posting some of that kewl infinium loot for the rest of us to drool over??:detecting:
I'll see if I can liberate some of that loot from you tonite at the poker table.;)

We will get together and hunt the south shore soon since we have both covered most of Long bay and Cambridge. Like yourself it has been work, work, work and no time to swing.

I will try some of the setting that were suggested in a earlier post and let everyone know how it works for me this weekend.

When we get out together you may certainly try the new set up I have.

I like the new scoop you have, sure is lighter than mine and seemed to dig nicely as well.

I am not into posting my finds however when I get a chance to take some pics I will show a few things in my collection.

I've read a good many forums and have noticed how many Minelab GP owners and wannabe owners have almost made them sound like

BDAHUNTER
You talked me into it and I decided to post a few of my finds the Infinium LS got me. Some Gold, Silver and some clad most out of Long Bay and Cambridge.

bda and BESCO,

I am flying into Ft Myers area on November 6th. A quick in and out trip and probably will have to work the beaches late at night. Any intel on beaches for that area?

Thanks

Between your pile of loot and mine I would say that those beaches are now completely stripped out. The amount of people using those beaches is small so I would think that it will take some time to replenish the supply of loot. The hunts for the last two months at those beaches have been rather quiet so it looks like it is time to search greener pastures.
I would say it is time to start searching the south shore. Agreed?

Cheers,

I think South Shore on Sunday low tide is a good idea.
Horseshoe should provide some gold I would think. Thanks for the invite.

I do not have any for that area however I found that when the sand is really stirred up the infinium using the 8" gets noisy and hard to tune out. It is almost like running the 14".

Wish you luck in your hunt and the day is a good one Nov 6 is my wedding day back in 1971.

I spoke with the surf GODS and they said they seen PINK and GOLD, sure hope it was more GOLD than PINK.
