I am thinking of purchasing Infinium and was wondering if there is a way to know out small iron targets when hunting rivers. I am also wanting to know what kind of depth to expect with this machine. I will be hunting with the 8in and the I think it is a 10x14 coils. Thanks for your help.

Hey Jeremiah,

You can use the iron check to check for iron targets. Its not always right but it helps. Iron check will continue to sound out if its iron. Sometimes I get no sound from it so I dig it hoping its gold, but it is brass casings from bullets or alot of times it is rusty iron. Rust can trick a detector as you probally know already, even a VLF gets tricked buy rust. Same as a PI detector. It is definatly deep detector. I dug a 2.3 gram .22 bullet at 8 inches the other day. I could not hear it with my GTI 2500 in all metal. Can hear a .22 bullet at 4 inches with GTI 2500 in hot ground. So looks like about double the depth in hot ground of my GTI 2500. I only use the 10x14 DD coil so far. And man let me tell you this thing is quiet in hot ground. Just purrs along until you hit a piece of metal. Can have some chirp sounds when around alot of electrical wires but can be adjusted enough where it doesnt bother me or is gone completly. Love this machine. well worth the price. It is all I use lately for my last 4 hunts in N Cali.

Pic is of my Infinium at a gold mine near The Klamath River California.

Good luck,
Alan in Oregon
