Looking for a PI machine for wet sand/water hunting. Any comparison information between these two detectors would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Both are well built pi detectors. White's is a little lighter, hard wired coil and head phones, easy to operate. Finny is a little heaver, especially with the big DD coil. You can change head phones and a good selection of coils for the Finny. Not sure the Garrett is still being made., but still some new and good used ones around. I use the Garrett for salt beach hunting.
I still have the Infinium and have used it for a few thousand hours. I have not used my Whites SurfMaster Pro (similar to the Dual Field) since I bought the Infinium . I like the 8" mono in winter months among the rock in had to dig areas, using valuable time digging the hi-low (gold) and leaving the low-hi (silver) tones. Summer sees the big DD coil for rapidly covering the area for fresh drops. I'll get the deep ones in the winter time. The 3x5 is great in rocky rivers were tubers loose many items.
The dual tone on the Infinium is a labor savor over the Dual Field. T Infinium has been discontinued, however I believe Garrett still has a few in stock...
see: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?62,2260640,2260705#msg-2260705 for more on the coil subject. The Infinium Classroom forum has a lot more info on the Infinium than the Beach/water.
Now the next step up from either is the Garrett ATX, heavier, some wear problems with the camlocks, but I have not found a better PI for performance and control settings. However only 3 very expensive coil options ($5-600 each).
