Garrett infinium LS

A local dealer has a huge sale on Garrett detectors so I was wondering if anybody had any thoughts on the Infinium LS as I have my eye on one.. I will be using it in freshwater in Wisconsin and in parks, beaches and old properties....Any thoughts appreciated....

The Infinium is a PI machine. Freshwater lakes do NOT rust the iron fast enough. You will be digging bobby pins, nails, pieces of can and you will get disgusted with it. You need a VLF machine in freshwater lakes. Way way too much iron particles in fresh water.

hey i use to have an infinium and yes you do dig lots but they are great machines. john from edmonton uses his in freshwater water and has found lots of gold and silver in freshwater also. ask a few more people what they think before you buy one and see what they say. good luck check out the infinium classroom and you will be able to see what people find and ask them in that room. you will get your answer there.

Any recommendations?

I'm across the pond from you here in Michigan and PI machines are not worth the problems here. Waaaay to much iron junk! I'm getting an Excal II 1000. I tried my luck water hunting with my AT Pro's and have had fairly good success so I decided to step up to claimed all around best water detector in the world and see if I can pull some more of that yellow out of the water. I seen a killer deal on a nearly brand new Infinium at a local dealer....long story short it was a guy who insisted on purchasing a PI for use here in Michigan and could not stand it for even 1 afternoon.

Scuba-Detector did not say the Infinium is a bad machine. A PI machine can be used anywhere everyone knows that but a VLF is more operator friendly in fresh water. JMHO HH :minelab:

Used the Infinium and a few others, Great machine but The first few times I used it I asked myself..why, did I buy this thing.....It takes some getting use to, and it's not for everyone..but in the right hands, it takes time to learn and will find the treasure..the deepest PI that I have used...but depth is not everything.....if you get one, get the 10x14 mono coil..

Your First water machine, I would not recommend it, go with the excal..then as a backup the infinium or DF.....

If you dont like problems whit your edge water hunting and for electromagnetic interference dont buy the infinium. My old infinium is ver very very erratic in the beach whit the stock coil and 8 monocoil.

of good about it. BUT, I haven't anything good about it in fresh water lakes here in Michigan. HOWEVER, to each his own. If you want to get the deepest possible and don't mind all the trash , go for it. I was just trying to help. The Excal is a wonderful machine also. I won't touch one because I like complete silence inbetween beeps so I can hear boats when I am diving in 5' of water. I love my Fisher CZ-21.

Metal detectors are just like cars. Some hate Fords others love them. Which is better a Ford, Chev, or Dodge? It depends on who you ask and what your doing with it. Same with metal detectors.
