Friday trip to the bay...7/2/2010 .....Nabbed a little Gold, and it is lite..but gold...using the Garrett LS Infinium Pi detecter, First serious time out with the PI, Thought I would have problems with ferrious targets but was not to bad at all. I like the coverage of the 10x14 mono coil, and after using it for a few hours Pinpointing is very easy..........Joe

Thanks for the video. I have a new Infinium that I haven't made time to get out to the beach with yet. It was nice to listen to your tones and try to estimate what would show up in your scoop. Building my skills vicariously :twodetecting: is better than not detecting at all

Nice vid!:clapping:Thanks for sharing!:wiggle:Congrats on the gold!:cheers:I like your homemade floating sifter. Mine's an old inner tube with a plastic gold classifier in it!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

I loved the video, can't wait to make one of those someday.

John, i like the Ls for the coverage of the 10x14 coil. Several told me the infininum would not do well in the Bay, because of the iron... but I must say it is great for this area, Sandy Point, and by that I mean most treasure you will find here are fresh drops. The bottom is but a few inch's of sand and then there is a med gravel rock bottom. So the treasure does not go far. The only problem I have would be digging the deep targets, still having issues with that. If it is less then 10 inch's deep, no problem.
The excal here in the bay, just does not do well, many or most here use fishers. The last trip to this location there were at least 18 guys in the water, I would say everyone had a Cz20 or 21 except me. And the funny thing is I talked to a few after the hunt, { have to be out of the water by 9 am } and they were getting very few targets...Where I was getting targets about every 5 minutes, several were iron & junk but I was getting good hits also, so I think the Infinium is a great machine, in the right place
Now the excal, so far, rules on the open beach of Oc ..Maryland. The Ls is deeper, but not by much..and this is with the excal 10inch coil in the PP mode. [reverse hunting] More time with infinium may change all. So each have there own area they excell.......Joe

My settings were for shallow targets, looking for resent drops...disc.......0 threshold was 4 { At one point I was getting so many targets I went to 3} and ran it on lock after balancing ...often passing up low/high tones. I'm far from knowing this machine, so your best reading would be John-Edmonton on this forum. One thing that sets this Ls apart from the others is I switched out the stock phones with some Peltor Optime 101's. And in the bay the ambient noise level is not bad, but I can hear the faintest of signals. Now at the Ocean there is so much back ground noise this really can make a difference. Hoping once I retire I will get more time in on the Ls & vid's.......HH....joe
