Garrett headphones??

MR.SCOTT

New member
I have a set Master Sound model 1603000 I got about 2months ago.
They are comfortable and I like the 10' cord length,But this set has a speaker that stops working half the time.
Is it cost effective to try to send in for repair? The overall sound of this unit is poor.Does Garret make any better headphones?
If not maybe that will there next big thing.I think they could make them bullet proof like the pro pointer and sound a little better .
What do you-all think?
:sadwalk:

Do you know how to use a soldering iron?

I'm not positive, but most headphones use a crimp connection and its probably going open.

If you can take the jack apart and have a look inside its probably a 5 min. repair.

Do you know how to use a DVM?

I have the Garrett's and I have no complaints. I would buy them again.:garrett:

I got a pair of Koss 30 last month and sound was really good ,But they have a short cord.
Maybe I just got a dud pair. What kind do you-all use?

I've wore out a couple of pair of Garretts. I usually buy the light cheapo kind as they work just as well. I ain't listening to the Boston Symphony. Folks put way too much stock in headphones, especially if they are using a Garrett with "faint target audio boost."

Check the earcup support (the piece that connects the earcup to the headband) where it curves and enters into the earcup. You can take off the ear padding and look to see if the support is touching the speaker anywhere on the inside causing it to short out. This is a common problem on this type of headphone. A slight trimming or bending it away usually cures the problem. HH

I've never had any problems with my Garrett headphones. I own several and have some over twenty years old that still work just fine. I still use those old ones sometimes. I have some Koss too. They're good. No problems. Sorry to see that your having troubles with yours. Hope you get it all worked out. Best of luck to ya'. Happy Hunting.:)

Seems to me that Garrett is faced with a dilemma in trying to meet everyone's needs with a "fit all" earphone set.

What is more than satisfactory for me may not work well for several other users on the forum.

Thanks Garrett for all the good things you provide for us,

CJ

I took them part on the bad side I could not see anything wrong,Put power to them they sound great. maybe just needed some love.Lol

Hi MR. SCOTT,

Many times this equipment will fail to operate for a reason that can be found with a little careful investigation.

It helps to know your limitations, however you should never hesitate to learn about these simple fixes when the opportunity comes along.

I congratulate you Sir, for your exploring the unknown and having a successful outcome!

Now you know more than you did before and you are better for it!

GL&HH Friend,

CJ
