Garrett GTP 1350

Hi to all,

just wanted to put in perspective this model of Garrett detector...
GTP 1350

It was not the best, flagship detector in Garrett's offer GTI type.
Standard and bigger PROformance coil included.

Can it compare to todays models?
Better than ACE class?

It was actually a great detector. You really had to learn the profiling to make it work for you. I had one of my best years using it. It is still above the Euro Ace/Ace 250 in my books. Had Garrett continued it's production and added a blunted coil, it would still be a super detector today.

Thank you John.

Can you compare it to White's 6000 di pro sl or IDX PRO?

Anyone else?

I'm thinking it was squeezed out of the Garrett lineup by the arrival of the ATP.
Similar price range as the ATP but not waterproof.
Based on older technology/platform.
Outperformed by ATP (except the GTP 1350 had the unique target sizing feature)
They could have reduced the retail price and slotted in between the 250 and the ATP ( that's what Whites did with the Prizm 6T/Coinmaster GT) but it may have not been a particularly profitable machine.
Perhaps they wanted to devote all their resources to just the ACE and ATP lines ... not a bad move if the factory was at capacity.

None of this means the GTP 1350 isn't a capable detector. Garrett hit a home run with the ATP in the mid-priced market and there was no need for 2 mid-priced machines.
