Garrett GTP 1350

Hi all
I have recently bought on Ebay a Garrett 1350 and expect it here in New Zealand at the end of the week. I am just realizing I may have not bought the right machine for its intended use, which is to locate rubbish holes near old farm houses in the hope of finding old bottles. In some cases metal junk in these holes may be 3ft or more under. Could someone please tell me how far down could I expect the Garrett 1350 to locate metal junk in aveage soil conditions.

Thanks very much
Don

If the junk is big enough the 1350 will probably pick it up in zero mode with the sensitivity cranked up. Don't forget old outhouse pits for old bottles, dishes, coins, etc.

Thanks Uncle Willy
Youve put my mind at ease a little. I guess I should have done some more "homework" before I bought. Thanks also for the tips, Ive been using a probe rod untill now to find rubbish holes etc untill now (whoopee!!! as a am typing this the 1350 just arrived by courier!!!! GREAT!!!!)
It was excellent to find this forum of dedicated Garrett users.
Thanks again

Probe works great if you know where to look for the filled in pit. Sometimes there is a little depression in the ground but if there is any junk in them the detector will help to locate them. Lot of valuable bottles were dumped into the old pits, along with dishes, silverware. Good luck on your quest. Hope to see some goodies posted sometime soon.
