Garrett GTP 1350 Pinpointing

: Hi, had a quick question on the pinpointing. When I go to pinpointing a possible target, I keep the searchcoil approx. 1 to 1/12 inches off the ground as I move the coil over the area but when I raise it anything above that (from that position to say 2ft off the ground) it will sound off like it would if it had pinpointed the target(steady hum). Just wondering if this is normal? Also have the 10 x 14 DD coil that I have not yet used and was wondering if this would work better? The area that I hunt is in northern Illinois which to my understanding is not too mineralized. Thanks for your time, Dave

mine does the same thing, the owners manual say keep the coil on the ground when pinpointing, that works for me.

Same here. I keep mine right on the ground and pin pointing is a snap plus the depth scale is more accurate!:garrett:

Why in the world would you raise your coil that high? Pinpoint with the coil on the ground. Scanning an inch off the ground is okay.
