I picked up a GTI 1500 and wondering when they discontinued making this unit? I hunt for older coins and rings etc. how good a unit is this compared to the newer detectors out there? I'm from Wisconsin and the soil is not to bad. Hope it will go fairly deep? Thanks for comments in advance. Joe

I have found many coins and rings with my GTI detectors. One you learn the imaging properly and it's limitations, you can save a lot of time leaving larger targets (by choice) in the ground and concentrate on coin and jewelry sized objects. The GTI was probably discontinues because the focus was on the ACE 350, AT Pro and AT Gold. The GTI 2500 is still in production, which is like the GTI 1500, only it has some extra features, one being a true all metal mode. All coils for the GTI series work on either of these metal detectors.

The 1500 is a very good detector ! It will get you good depth on coin sized targets and more on bigger targets. It's a coin magnet !
I found tons of good stuff with mine over the years I think you'll like it. If you need any help just post on this forum you'll get a lot of help here.

I've had my 1500 since the first or second year that they came out. Have had no problems with it. Great detector. You'll love the target imaging.
