Garrett gta 350

Hello I have inherited a Garrett gta 350 but there seems to be a problem with the search coil (info from previous user)
I have looked around the web to see if there is another coil that will work
Can anyone advise what coil I might be able to use.. I plan on using the machine for searching for coins and such not looking to dig too deep
The old coil wire has a 5 pin connection with one of the pins in the center if that makes a difference.. I did see a sniper 4.5" coil that appeared to have the same pin connection would that do?.. I have never done any metal detecting before so your help is appreciated thanks

Well, it is not just the coil connection that matters here. Coils may have the same connection, but if the frequency the gta 350 runs on does not match the frequency of the coil you buy for it, it could damage the machine. Not saying that is the problem with your coil though. The coil that came with it probably has a problem that it would need to be sent in to Garrett. Of course, the GTAs age means that there are usually some coils that fit it on Ebay for a good price.

With that said, I do not know off the top of my head which coils fit the GTA 350, and which do not. Garrett's website may have some information on this though.

The GTA 350 uses Garrett Crossfire coils. There's a few for sale on eBay now.

Several years ago I tbought a GTA 500 for $50 that had been run over by a four wheeler. The original Crossfire coil was damaged beyond repair, but I had a like new Crossfire II coil and was curious as to whether it would work on the 500. I called Garrett, spoke to Jack Lowry and he said the only difference between the Crossfire and Crossfire II coils was the connector, so I put the Crossfire connector on the Crossfire II coil and it worked fine in the 500. I sold it a local guy and he's still using it.

Sweet that's good news I've seen a number of the crossfire 2 coils for sale.. I guess I should try to stay with the 8.5" coil?
When you rewired the connector any issues? Or tips on getting that done..

No problem changing the connector, only a few minutes desoldering and resoldering the wires. .

You can do the same with the Proformance coils for that matter. I bought a Freedom Ace Plus that came with a 7 x 10 with the "X" pattern connector that the previous owner claimed had been done by Garrett. I've used it on my GTA 1000 and it works just fine.

Very nice fella's I originally was led to believe that since it is an older unit I was not going to be able to find a coil.. You have given me new hope .:beers:

Sorry ... One last thing.. It might not matter when I get a new coil but my unit is the ultra gta 350 , I have incorrectly identified it in earlier posts.., I'd still be good swapping to newer crossfire coil and rewriting right?.. New people shhheeesshhh.. I know
