Garrett Exanimo Spartan 175

Anyone ever use one of these? I've heard that it's a rare model.

I'm not too familiar with the Garrett Spartan 175 model, Do know they had a smaller meter mounted on the mini control box and were very similar to the Garrett Tracer model. Have only seen two Garrett Spartan 175 models surface in my Internet career, So I guess they are a rare find.

Have seen a few different types of handle setups on various models, Used different size coils too.

Here is a model I picked up from AC a year or two back, For it's size they do extremely well very cool looking too.

Here's a Prototype with the meter on the face panel, Not sure if this model made it to production the Spartan models had the meter separate in it's own mini case mounted on top of the circuit housing. This prototype may be one of the few or the only prototype with the meter on the face panel, It's a rare one indeed. One of the issues it had was the On/Off volume control was shot, So hard wired the volume to high volume and mounted an On/Off switch. Someday in the future will redo this and remount a new pot, This was done to get the unit going again.

The problem with these models they tend to have issues, So beware what you're going up against if you find one. With this prototype had to first replace one of the resistors that had broken off to get the unit to tune properly, And because the paint had completely faded off the broken resistor finding one similar to get the unit to tune properly was a nightmare and when I found one that would work had to change the one next with a different value but at the end it fired up works great again.

For collecting purposes they are nice to have, Work great too when they work but beware they tend to had issues.

Thanks Paul. The one I have says Made by Garrett Electronics for Exanimo Segundo Colorado. This is a BFO detector right? I have never used a BFO before. I don't know what it should sound like. It has three coils. Approximately 6", 8", and 12" I'm guessing haven't measured. It does power on, but I think it may need a new battery. Sound is low. I'll try to find time to play with it this weekend and take some pics.

Here are some pics. This is a cool old machine.

That is a super nice Spartan Will, She's a beauty thanks so much for sharing the pictures.

And thanks for getting back with me on the PM, Appreciate you taking the time.

Thanks again,
