Garrett engineers are taking the AT down to the coast tomorrow to tweak it for saltwater hunting so this should solve any problems there.

n/t

Great news! Do we know if it will have a special "salt water" mode, or will this just be a general tweak? Good to hear that they are taking the salt water hunters seriously.

Yep,That's a good thing for sure......I want a detector for dry land and saltwater beaches....hh.......Dan
PS if it can do a good job at both of these, they will sell lots of detectors and I want some garrett stock haha

I"d sure like to see what kind of depth can be gotten in the wet sand out in the water after the tweak ......I'm surprised that a saltwater mode was no tincluded since it's an AT machine and touted to go 10 ft underwater .....Saltwater is water ...Sorry, I couldn't resist .....Jim

Salt water beaches are always a problem and unfortunately all are different from State to State and even day to day depending on the wave action.
Don't do this hunting anymore but proper adjusting should make a good detector even better and will be a plus as most one freq. units don't usually do well in this enviroment...

Are you saying that Garrett engineers are redesigning the specifications of the AT to better handle saltwater hunting? It seems a little late in the game to be going through a technical redesign. In order to hit the target of availability in November I would have thought that the manufacturing process would have already been in full swing by now. If a redesign is done at this point I would expect substantial testing would be in order. And what about all of the units that may have already been manufactured without the saltwater "tweaks"? Is there going to be a V1 (available in November) and a V2 (available at a later date)? Without some further clarification I would be hesitant to pre-order.

Yeah it's already set up for saltwater but they don't want to leave any stone unturned and want it tweaked to perfection.
