Garrett Deepseeker 5.5

I have a Garrett Deekseeker 5.5 Co-Planar Coil that is 14" and quite heavy. It is in a hard plastic carrying case.It came out of an old hobby shop. Can anyone tell me more about this. What model is it from, what is it for? ETC.Thanks

It was made for the old Garrett Master Hunter Deep seeker VLF-TR series of Detectors, started comeing out in about 1978 or so. At the time they were the top of the line detectors., and they would go pretty deep.

There are some folks that still use older machines. Myself being one. I have the machine I mentioned and also the coil you have. It detects with that coil deeper than I have wanted to dig so far. It's fun learning and using the old machine. I"m sure if your looking to sell it someone will be interested. As to what it might be worth I can't help you there, but I'm once again sure that someone on here will know and if not them check out some of the vintage detector forums, I'll bet you can spark some interest there.

Thanks newbiehunter. I will try to find someone that has a use for it. I didnt know if it was a useless relic. I dont see how it can be used with how heavy it is.

I dont have any idea what its worth. make me an offer. The postage will be a bit due to the weight, less if you dont want the briefcase it came in.

Slateroofer -

I've got several of those old Garret machines and although heavy, their depth is nearly unequalled with that size coil. There is also an added benefit to using one of them - after just a couple of months, the ladies will be impressed with your huge, heavily muscled arms and shoulders :spin:

Hi wile.E That would be fine.I wouldliketosee it get used someday. I dont see how you can swingthis head on the endofa detector. My emailis slate_roofer@yahoo.com.Iwill sheckinto the postage tomorrow morning.

I'm surprised no one knew what coil you have.
Right away I remember back in the days when water hunting was still mostly virgin grounds and land based detectors
couldn't be used for water hunting............So many detector manufacturers came up with an add on coil. A heavy weight
search coil that can be lowered into the depths from a boat, etc. while the control box sits high and dry. Others searched the deep water
with the control box attached to a floating innertube.........

Any time you have any questions on a particular item, you can search my website: http://www.treasurelinx.com
Your particular coil can be found on page 6 of Garrett catalog 1980
