For years, Garrett metal detectors have been used by various law enforcement agencies to prevent and solve crimes.

I bet that would work for civilwar relic hunting since most of what you would be hunting would be brass, copper, lead ect. Do you think they would sell that to the public?

So easy a caveman could do it !

I'm sure they'd sell it to anyone. They have had law enforcement detectors available for many years and even teach classes to law enforcement people in their use. Garretts are everywhere.

Every time you go through an airport you are being checked out by Garrett detectors. Same for the Olympics for the past many years and all Federal and State buildings.

Bill[/quote]Shhh, don't give out any National Secrets Willy, terrorists might be monitoring this post:ninja:

I never thought that the CSI 250 might really excel as a relic hunter. I got an email back from Mary @ Garrett and she said that they are in fact available to the public, and retail for about $279.95. Mmmmm.......now you got me thinking :nerd:

Put on the big coil and you should have real good depth. Sounds like a must for your collection!

My mistake :( It wasn't electronically tweaked to to be hot on bullets, brass casings and lead fired projectiles. It reads them just like the ACE 250 would. The face plate was redesigned to ID these items more easily.

You should see if Garrett would send you a face plate to use on your 250
Over top of the old one . Don't see why it wouldn't work. Or may be someone here could figure out where bullets, buttons ect. Fall on the ID and size of the 2500 and make a face plate out of plastic kind of like a over lay you would use on a projector. And over lay it on the the 2500 face plate for relic hunting. Could make someone some $$$
I think I should get the first one to test drive since it was my Idea !:super:
