GARRETT COUSIN......................GOLD MOUNTAIN KING COBRA

Member
Gold mountain doesn't have a forum so I thought that I would post here! Anyway it operates on 15 KHZ and I plan on using some of the Garrett Groundhog coils as optional equipment! Just got it for Christmas and so have not had time for a field test yet! Playing with it in my house it looks impressive! It is liteweight and on the notch set-up is very good on sniffing out the nickels and rings without having to dig all those pulltabs!................HAPPY HOLDIAYS........................Joe

I feel like it is a Garrett Cousin for several reasons................................................it was also made in Garland,Texas. It operates on the same frequency as the Garrett Groundhog ( and so it can use all of the Groundhog's accessories!) and there is a rumor that at one time the Gold Mountain line was a Subsidary of Garrett..............for a cheaper more affordable detector line! Not sure if this is true.......................just a rumor! Of course, I feel the same way about the Frank Ball line of D-Tex but that is another story..............................................HAPPY HOLIDAYS...........................Joe

are the coil connectors the same? if not what will u have to do to make it work? is there adapter u can get? thanks

r.r.warren, yes the connectors are all the same, so no modifying is required! Just plug it in and go! The D-Tex 15KHZ coils will also work on this detector or vice versa. This capability really opens up all of the coils that can be obtained!..........................Happy Holidays..............Joe

Joe, what about other makes and models are they interchangeable as long as the frequency the same? but what if the frequency the same but the connectors are different say one has a male connector and the other a female connector? do u have to cut and splice or does anyone make adaptors? thanks
