Garrett AT Pro Headphone Liposuction

After the brown truck dropped of my AT Pro I thought the standard headphones needed to lose
a little weight. After dissembling the standard headphones I put the goodies back in a set of
thunder 29 muffs I had laying around...There's no sound advantage but the look is more like
today and not 30 years ago..

Next Mod "Wireless"

wondering how much longer my stock headphones will last. The cord is looking pretty ugly. Glad I have two spare pairs. One spare, one on my back up at pro

Nice job, looks great! I've done a similar mod on every Minelab I've ever owned. I'm not sure why these big companies keep ignoring one of the most important things about a metal detector.

The cord on the AT-Pro headphones does need to be longer, at least for me it does (i'm 6-ft).. I'm going to have to take a look at the connector
and see if it's possible to replace the cord down the road if need be...I think the best option for me for the AT-Pro
will be a wireless system for land use. I also have a pair of the Blue submersible headphones when needed for in the water.. Although I haven't
had the AT pro out in the dirt (Just Received this week) I believe that it will do the jobs I have in mind very well!

Carl your absolutely right concerning the headphones! For instance the Koss ur 30 headphones that come
with some minelab detectors are very poorly designed. They just don't want to stay on your head if
your standing while the detector is on the ground...I do however like the 50mm drivers they use in
their construction and have used them in my headphone mods...I liked the sound over the Ratphones
i had at one time....More volume and I still use them!

Nice job Man! Its always good to see somebody with some skills! :clapping:
I got those blue waterproof headphones with my Pro and have not taken them off since day one..yes the cord needs to be longer for dirt hunting, but for wading or somesuch, they are tolerable since the Pro gently floats right along side a fellow as he is scooping, so I can live with them...still, it would be nice if both the waterphones and the land phones had even one more foot of wire, two even,...a guy could always throw a loop in it if it was too long...too short, and its a pantload that detracts from the general joy of the hunt..lots of us swing a pretty wide swath up on the beach, and thats where a longer wire would come in handy....

Nice mod! I'm always impressed with the creative problem solving talent in the forums. I may do that with my Garretts - they're my backup, and the ear & head cushions are all cracked from the NM heat.
I use a coiled extension (with Polk behind the neck sport phones) so I don't inadvertently tug on the connectors, but they just aren't quite rugged enough, so I spend a lot of quality time with my soldering iron these days.

I agree that a quality wireless setup would be the ultimate, but I haven't found a lag-free set that I like to replace the Auvio's, which only lasted a few months. Anyone having any luck in that department?

Thanks for your thoughts...Check into the TDK WR 700 wireless system. I never noticed any lag with
this setup!
