Garrett AT Pro Forum

Good afternoon, I put my pre-order in just last night and was thinking we are gonna need a separate forum just for AT Pro users. What are the chances?

A most excellent idea!

Let's post when they arrive.

Be interesting to see how they get divvied (is that a word?) out to all who ordered them. It would even be interesting to know how many people did order one.

1st, let's see how long it takes to get them delivered to early orders then fill some dealers wall space.

2nd, by posting here we'll be able to get input from both users and inquisitive shoppers and those with former Garrett model experience.

3rd, I think we're going to see this forum get fairly busy for a short while, and if they come out in November, then by January or February (for those who live where they can hunt during the winter) we can also monitor the Classifieds Forum and try to figure out what was expected but wasn't delivered in the way of actual performance.

These two forums ought to be enough to get folks familiar with the AT Pro, and then in 6 months to 1 year, a 'special' forum might not be a bad idea.

:usaflag:An AT Pro forum is'nt really necessary, but it would be nice for someone seeking specific info. For instance, whether or not it's worth buying. If I had an AT Pro-related question, I would go to that forum first. Some (or all) of the other competitors forums are separated by model...why not Garrett? I'm all for it... change is good.

I just think it would be easier than digging through all of the different posts on here. Plus I really like the idea that someone else had of posting when shipments start arriving. This detector is in a class of it's own and there is an unbelievable amount of interest. Plus it would keep those who aren't really interested from having to weed through a bunch of unrelated\unwanted posts.

The other thing I noticed is that there are "classroom" forums that can also be found on this site. With all of the new features that is gonna be a definite need. Can you tell I'm getting anxious!

Who might be able to get this done for us?

We'll see how the response is. If it warrants a forum all its own I'll see about getting one up. I got one put up for the Scorpion awhile back.

This forum started out as the Garrett Classroom which I ran until it switched over to it's current status.

Thanks Bill, it almost makes sense to make a GTI series forum, an ACE series forum and now an AT forum. Just a suggestion, I'm new here but I get lost trying to find info at times. Either way, this is a great place to find answers and I'm hoping we all become experts on the AT Pro very quickly.

The GARRETT USERS FORUM pretty well covers everything Garrett produces. The only reason I had the Scorpion forum put up was because it is a specialized machine for a specific purpose and isn't usually purchased for general hunting and was hardly ever mentioned or discussed on this forum.

If the AT with the PRO mode presents a problem in mastering it we may see about a classroom for it. When I ran the first classroom the GTI had just come out and was the main learning problem and a lot of folks had problems mastering those and many threatened to wrap them around a tree as the imaging was a whole new innovation and concept and they just couldn't get the hang of it.plus the coils were ultra sensitive and they had problems with that.

Have I got this right? We're talking about a special forum for a detector which exists, but no-one has used yet, except for a fe special people who aren't allowed to say anything. Hmmm.

I feel this forum is adequate for the time being...Indeed putting the wagon before the horse on the new kid on the block is kind of ridiculous as its just another detector that seems user friendly
and lets see how the unit goes over once it hits the street...Of course right now losts of questions that should be addressed early from feedback once the unit is received and used by detectorists.

That's fine, whatever you guys think is best. It just seems like this forum is basically turning into the AT Pro forum and everything else gets buried. Thanks for the consideration.

I was one of the early GTI users Bill talked down from the ledge. I still remember the raise my coil on shallow targets to get accurate imaging.

The classroom forum was a tremendous resource for the GTI, so an AT Pro forum just may be the ticket.

I believe the AT Pro will be a new experience for your typical Garrett user...especially in the pro audio modes, and I think some may need help. I'm guessing the audience and interest level will far exceed the Scorpion, based on the posting activity on this forum (no offense intended to Scorpion owners...John sure does well with his, but it is older technology long overdue for an update and it has a brutal battery system). Thus, a separate AT Pro forum may indeed be needed.

Here are some things I'm fairly certain of (my main machine right now is an Omega, but I still own a GTI), regarding the AT Pro, in my opinion:

- build quality will be very good
- the detector will perform as designed and most will be satisfied with its performance (love the waterproofing)
- Garrett will stand behind their product...fantastic customer service (for decades!)
- EMI will not plague this machine like others...Garrett has a good track record in this regard
- GTI users will appreciate the lighter weight...the reason I swing the Omega is the weight & performance combination.

I hope this product release succeeds. I wish users of all brands good luck in the field...everyone has their own distinct likes and dislikes in particular machines...more power to them.

I don't know how long the Scorpion forum has been around but I bet the number of posts would surpass that group in just a couple days. The more I think about it the more I would like to see separate forums for the different series (GTI, ACE and AT). Hopefully the mods will take these posts into consideration if they decide to do this for everyone. And hopefully they will create the AT Forum before it starts shipping out. Would be cool to track where the first shipments are headed and start getting delivered. I've been detecting for about 12 years now and I don't ever remember a detector with as much hype as this one.
