Garrett AT Pro and EMI

MarkCZ

Well-known member
The question is for those of you that have owned other brands of detectors and have had problems with them with EMI, how does the AT Pro compare to them, area for area, coil size for coil size.
Better?
Worse?
About the same?
And I don't want any "Brand Bashing Either"

Thanks

Mark

Use the 11" coil mainly and am hunting places with it that just about couldn't with some other detectors. In fact, when swinging and hunting, have never had any emi issues. Nearby a couple of schools when I set the detector down to dig a target I get some chatter. But, when commencing swinging, none! HH jim tn

Sometimes my partner and I hunt near high voltage lines and he picks some of it up (Ace250) but not much and I don't pick any of it up. Having said that, I know their are some spots Down South that are very bad for EMI (Military Installations) and Not to many metal detectors will fair well around them.

Underground cables I picked up once and just moved away from that spot (about 100') and the machine ran as it usually does (quite).

I think the AT Pro is quite Resilient to EMIs overall but no machine is 100% perfect against them. Their are more options available to deal with EMIs with the AT Pro than a lot of the higher priced machines currently on the market.

I can speak for my Garrett AT Gold. It is the least affected detector of all that I have owned. This includes hunting a few spots where interference messed with all my previous machines..... F75, F75ltd, F70, T2, xterra 705, excaliburs, etrac, ctx3030, etc,

%99 percent of the time I can clear up EMI by changing frequencies and lowering sensitivity a notch or two. Don't forget to do a factory reset every battery change for good measure

Oh, and I'm a previous ML owner and the AT Pro far exceeded that machine dealing with EMIs and the ML was over twice the price.
