garrett ace 350 false signals

Hi guys,I'm new to this hobby and thinkin about gettin a ace 350 for my first detector, but talked to the guys at kellyco detectors and thier tryin to sell me the fisher f4. kina alot of money to put out for first detector. thier tryin to tell me bein i live in pa and its highly minerlized soil here, that im gonna get alot of false signals and dig for nothing? anyone got experience on that part.. i mean shold i really get a machine that has ground controll? from what i get ground controll is the same as turnin down youre sensitivity.. might be wrong here but just what i got out of it. any help here leadn me in the right direction is greatly apperciated dont wanna get out thier and get pissed off and discouraged with constant false signals and dig to china for nothing. i know im gonna get pull tabs and bottle caps but thats just normal... thanks for any info here.

When I first started detecting I bought a top of the line machine and was glad I did. I'm not a real fast learner but I need to have the best tools for the job at hand. I don't want to spend hours in the field with a detector that doesn't produce, ...a waste of valuable time for me. At first, finding anything was fun,,,,clad mostly, until I found a 1841 coin, then clad meant nothing to me, it was just a nuisance. Now it's old coins and relics a second.

If you want to buy an f series detector and the money is there, I'd go with the f-5, f-70 or the f-75. If money is real tight, then you know what you have to do.

I also live in south eastern PA and in many areas the soil is highly mineralized. The machines I have used are Cz, f-75, ML-SE, E-trac and they all work great around here.

Many will say to start off with a simple inexpensive detector to see if you like the hobby, or not. I say reach a little further and get a machine you can grow with.....That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

so basicly im wasten time and money with the fixed ground controll on the ace 350? whats youer opinion on the fisher f4 im like u i want the best but i dont got a million to sink into a detector right now. can go fro 400 if i have to but not more. thanks for the info

The f4 is much better than the 350. Its GB however can only be adjusted in "all metal mode". F5 is a bit complex for a newbie. If I were you I would contact Bart and get a Gamma 6000 for just a little more $ than the 350. Will last you many successful years.

My advice is if you're going to have just one detector, it should always be a model with either a manual adjustable ground balance or true auto ground tracking. Preset ground machines work pretty well in areas where the soil is forgiving, but can be a disappointment when attemtping to hunt areas that are too heavily mineralized. As to which model? I'll leave that up to you and the others as I haven't had experience with every option out there.'

If you decide to get a detector....whatever choice.....why don't you contact one of our forum sponsors.........bet they can meet or beat price..and they give really good service. I also think the Gamma would be the best choice at the price point being discussed.

ok ive done alot of searchin around and readin posts. kellyco recommended the fisher f4 with seems they do to everyone for some reason or another, but i was gonna get the f4 then i found that the bounty hunter discovery 3300 is the same detector but 200 bucks less. am i right or wrong here? from what i gatherd fisher, technics, and bountyhunter all all the same now combined with tex electronics.

Ok....you probably saw the 3300 listings on FleaBay. Great!!!! Just make sure the seller is a authorized First Texas dealer for that unit. Or you get absolutely no warranty..not even 1 day's worth. Call First Texas & ask if seller is authorized. 1-800-413-4131. And a used First Texas detector never has warranty for the new owner.
