Garrett Ace 250

I bought a Garrett Ace 250 a week ago and have started using it only at playgrounds in the sand and the ground is still somewhat frozen. I find it very frustrating in that I have set the detector to Coin and yet it beeps when I scan over bottle caps and cans. I notice that it doesn't beep when I'm over iron, the target ID simply moves over to the Iron scale and that's it. I was under the impression it would beep in the coin mode only when coins are discovered. I know I'm new at this, what am I doing wrong? Help.

Thank you, I was out today in a few playgrounds and came up with 26 cents. Not much, but at least they weren't bottle caps. I think I'll stick to sand and gravel for now just until I can master my detector.

If you set your discrimination too high you will not find gold... Gold is in the bottle-cap/aluminum range... If you disk out foil you're going to disc out platinum... If you want to find jewelry you have to dig the trash, otherwise set your disc high enough and be a clad-hunter.
