Garrett Ace 250 Question

I've been using an Ace 250 as a backup detector, due to how light it is. I have a weak back, plus I enjoy using the little yellow machine. However I have noticed twice now when I have run into any type of interference ( another detector, power lines etc). That it will quit picking up any targets at all. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions on what to do to fix it?
Thanks, John

Have you tried to do a master reset by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds? If that doesn't help, I'm not sure.

I had something like that happen to mine once. It went crazy and locked up. No matter what I did it stayed that way. I could here it humming but not doing anything else. I held the on off button for several seconds and nothing would happen. I finally pulled the batteries and waited a few seconds and then put them back in. All was fine again. I'm not really sure what happen there but it hasn't done it anymore. I was by a overhead powerline. Strange part is I went back to that same area and it worked fine.

It is possible that you may have suffered from target masking without realising it. If you had a lot of gravel under you coil, or perhaps lots of iron, then it's possible that's all that happened.

@2 bars sensitivity my EMI and interference problems disappear whenever I'm under power lines. If it still doesn't work, could be a loose battery wire or connector problem.
