garrett ace 150

detectorace

New member
hello everybody.
i'm new on this forum, actually i'm new to this hobby also and i need some advice from you all.
i have resently bought an ace 150 ,i found out that i woulden't buy a more expencive one before i've learnt some more about the hobby.
but i have some problems that i hope you could help me with.
1)i've been on the beach today ,and i had a lot of signals ,but when i digged out i coulden't find anything .
i had a coin signal.
the battery pack is new,in all metal mode and sensitivity on factory setting. the sand was also wet and i used the 9+12 coil.
any help and advice is much apriciated.
i live in norway by the way.
best regards

Sounds like your getting false readings. You need to reduce your sensitivity to 4 bars or lower in the wet sand.
In the dry sand you should be able to increase the sens.

World wide forum. Welcome Norway .

Salt water beaches are highly minerized and will give false readings. DO NOT RUN IN ALL METAL MODE!! Try Jewelry mode. This was designed more for beach hunting. Also, as stated earlier, lower your sensitivity down and then gradually raise it up to the highest setting you can without getting false signals.

I hope this helps!

thanks alot to you all for taking the time to help a newbie from the north,i will sure try your advice:detecting:
i was just following the user manual ,but there is nothing like real experience.
keep the good advices coming,it seems that i have a lot to learn:clapping:
best regards

Hey,
Welcome to Norway.
The advice given is good and just a matter of practice and experimentation.
Sens is variable from place to place, the ace can hold it's own with any detector in the dry sand.
But the sens needs to be turned way down in the damp I'd go down as far as 3 bars.

does this apply on wet soil/dirt to ,to lower the sensitivity,i'm practising in my back yard now on follow you advices to the max:detecting:
