Garrett 9" x 14" mono coil...advice please

Can anyone advise me how this large coil handles in CALM water.

I have tried the WOT coil and found the resistance too much as I water hunt for 8 hours at a time. I guess the WOT coil has 3 leading edges so the water has to overcome this.

The Garrett 9 x 14 would appear to be more streamlined in the water ?

The coil will be used in calm (lake like conditions).

Coverage is what I'm after and I need to deal with some black sands....junk items are minimal.

This coil is for the Garrett Sea Hunter II.

Appreciate anyone who has used this coil. It won't be used in the surf.

HH,
Tony.

A 10x14" Mono coil on a PI unit is a pleasant size to use in calm water up to ones armpit provided there is no snags or other obstacles the water resistance slows it down to just about optimum coil swing speed, or should that be guide speed.

In any case it works for me.

In the water I prefer the S T E Mode for pinpointing out of the water the D T E Mode can be faster for pinpointing.
A very small item ( like the flat round top part of a pop rivet) is easier to pinpoint in the S T E Mode the S T E Mode is also easier to use if the target seem to have disappeared after the first dig or two.
One more thing, the size of the digging tool can make a difference.
My preference in water is a wide mouthed scoop and on the beach a shovel with a long handle, as said that is my preference, different people different style.
