Just bought a new 400 to play with. Manual says it has "automatic ground balance". and then no more about it. Is it truly "auto" or is it fixed?

It is a fixed ground balance. I believe they are suggesting you don't have to ground balance it. It should work well in 80% of places. The other 20% places will result in depth loss, so, as with purchasing any detector, find out if it will work in your area. Ask your dealer.

Thanks John. I have other detectors that will handle the other 20%. Just never used a detector that was "fixed". Sounds like a cat or a dog.

True, there is no disturbance, for metalliferous saved false stones, if ground too high the depth is limited, do not dig more iron
Garret made a big fave with low price compared to operational capacity of 400 ì, those who ask me information, I say 400 ì and price even half or one third less than other md
