Garrett 2500

I have had my Garrett 2500 for about 4 months and hardly ever leave home without it. I feel like I have just about got through the learning curve but a couple of questions come to mind. 1. When I get a hit on a target and pinpoint iut the nice lady's voice comes on and says something like, "Five B at four inches ." In those terms what does the five mean? 2. When I am detecting an area with multiple targets and lots of trash, about two thirds of the time my lcd read out will show a max width target at twelve inches. I rarely dig targets that deep but I have dug down just to see what it is. After working my butt off digging I find that there is nothing there! Is this some kind of a default setting or am I having detector problems?
Any opinions appreciated. JIM

The five is the number on your display by your target ID . The (B) is the size and 4 inches is your depth of the target. I only use mine for the menu mode only. I don't like all that talking. As far as the deep targets go. It could be a small target not centered while pinpointing. I had that happen to me. I hit it from another direction and got a good read on pinpoint. Also just because it says 12 inches don't mean it couldn't be deeper depending on how big it is. Also a nice size piece of iron that is really rusty with a good halo will give that signal also. It doesn't hurt to check these out every now and then just to see whats in the area your hunting. Hope this helps.

Nearly all coins I find the machine says, "5 B at 4 inches" as an example. I can never find a 5 indicated anywhere on the LCD read out. I do have a hearing problem and maybe the nice lady is saying "size" instead of five? I will listen closer. I set my detector imagin on "image". That way it only talks when I pinpoint. Setting it that way I don't have to constantly monitor the screen and can concentrate on what it sounds like. I can't stand all that chatter in the background on another setting either! JIM
