Garrett 2500: Gold coin found by hunting partner

This is a 1891 British gold Sovereign, with Queen Victoria/St. George slaying the dragon.

Found a few weeks ago with a Garrett 2500, depth 8", imaged coin size, bouncy target ID 5-6. This beautiful coin was found in a well hunted area, and had been passed over more than once.

A week before we were talking that there just had to be gold coins out there, and about digging all those iffy sounding targets that were deeper and coin sized. That strategy paid off big time. With the all-metal and the real size/real depth capabilities of the 2500, it's the perfect machine to do it with.

They're out there!

Congrats Rob, a fantastic way to end your first year of detecting!

The old advice to dig all repeatable signals deeper than 3-4 inches is still good. I do, although I have yet to unearth one of those! Congrats!

Give him a good handshake from me! That is just incredible!

He's gotta report that one to Garrett for sure! (click on link below)

I agree...that is one lovely coin !

I find myself digging lots of iffy signals and they paid off many times....no gold coins in my neck of the woods.

Cheers!

Thanks for posting Gabe. That's one beautiful coin and shows the capabilities of the 2500. What's a piece like that worth? Hope you guys find its sister.
