garrett 250 will it ?/?/??

Thanks all for the info on the garrett 250 but will the machine let me discriminate out pull tabs and bottle caps without loosing coins thats the main thing for me and i'm sure i'll love it. i am a beginner but i know i'll get bored if i digg 200 pull tabs in a row, thats all i want as a requirment really i know the machine will do the rest ...

If you discriminate pull tabs etc, you will most likely discriminate the gold rings and other small jewelry too. You'll still be able find the coins you seek. You have to dig it to find it :)
 
It'll certainly do that for ya.
Set it in coin mode but don't expect jewelry, that'll disc out everything else.
Although if you go for hours without getting any hits you might just be tempted to try jewelry mode which still lets you get the coins along with everything else except ferrous.:twodetecting:

Hi Traviswells, I just posted this for someone else, so I thought maybe since you asked this question you may well want to watch this as well, I found it very useful and interesting, and will show you tons about what the Ace 250 will do, and how its settings work. Garrett Ace 250 Operations Video
 
Travis wants to hunt coins and coin mode will work fine for him. The only other thing that I would offer is to not try to center the coil on pinpoint. Travis, when you have the target centered, pull the coil slowly back towards you until you lose sound. The target will be under the tip of the inner coil. One of the posts here said that thedeeper targets will drift further and further back towards the center uing this method deepending on how deep the target is.

Yeah for a beginner to start in all metal will frustrate them right out of the hobby in a heart beat. Coins mode is the one to startt out in. I don't know who wrote the manual but they left a lot to be desired.
