Garrett 250 on the beach

Anyone ever use a 250 on the beach, both dry and wet sand? Pros and cons??

If you're referring to a salt water beach, I've done it. In the dry sand, the Ace 250 works great, as expected. However, in the wet sand, you have to turn the sensitivity down very low. The mineralization causes the machine to go nuts. I use the large coil and have to turn the sensitivity down to three bars. In the dry sand, I can have the sensitivity one notch below max. I imagine there would be no problem in fresh water, but I haven't tried that yet.

It does alright on dry sand. It would do a heep better with a DD coil on it for beach work.
The lat time I went in the water with it, it falsed too much, regardless of how low I set the sensativity.
Mick Evans.

wade into the water at the beach at say knee level. Kinda hoping the 250 would be able. Wonder what tector I should get??

Yeah, in the saltwater is definitely out. Mine goes brezerk too. The wet sand just above the waterline is OK at a sensitivity level of three, but how deep is the machine at such a low sensitivity? Maybe four to five inches, max?
