Garret pro-pointer trouble

homebre

Member
I have a relatively new (less than 1 year old) propointer and I started to have trouble with the switch staying on; then it starts working fine again. Will this only get worse, and should I send it back for repairs? I hate to be without it for any length of time though I have a HF pointer.

Send it in and get it repaired or replaced while your warranty is still good, hold off and you just may be sorry you did.

Order yourself another Propointer to be used as a backup and then send in the one that you have now for repairs. Detecting without one is a pain in the butt. I have 3 :)

Yeah I hunted for several yrs without one then saw all the posts about guys using them and decided what the heck and bought one, would hate to hunt without it now.

Well as luck would have it, it apparently went out of warranty last week if the warranty is a year. i bought it from New England Metal Detectors which has also apparently disappeared from the Web! Maybe Garrett will honor it.

It's a two year warranty.

I have a Vibraprobe as a spare. The Garrett is a better pin pointer in my opinion but I don't expect it to last a lifetime. The Vibraprobe will work well for the rest of my detecting days.

I've had a Pro-Find for two years; never had a need for a back up.

It sounds like a great pin-pointer. Still, I'm not jumping out of a plane without a reserve chute.:)
