garret atx

I used one 3 times and it is very deep but with no discrimination deep, I did know how much crap where I go had. I sold it.

Very good detector ,I have own one for about3 years love it , it is heavy ,but if you use the minelab harness ( PRO SWING ) It becomes very lite.

I have to agree with you junklord on the atx.it is a good machine. I bought one 3 years ago it was my first machine. It was a big learning curve. It does have it's place in the metal detecting world. I go to Florida in the winter. Went to the Florida keys, Talk to local metal detector fellow, he told me the place where I was, is hunted very hard and he and is friend come all the time they can. Also told me I would only find newly dropped items. Well, I found a big silver ring tarnished so bad it was black as night. Hope to see you on the beach sometime.

I've had mine for about a year. It is heavy but less so when in the water and i also use a sling. So the weight doesn't bother me in the water.

Advantages over some other PI units for the water are the frequency scan and adjustable sensitivity. Very handy when hunting highly mineralized beaches which we have here in the western US. Some of my VLF/milti freq. Machines will go 6" or less in high mineralization where the ATX will punch down a foot or more.

I also like the high/low and reciprocal signal so you can cherry pick for gold or silver to some extent. Hair pins can give a double beep and the iron ID works once you get targets close.

I find myself using it more and more when i feel I'm not getting depth in mineralized ground. However, it wouldn't be my first choice for FLA. My CTX works well enough there for most of my hunts.

Just my thoughts on how it works for me.
