Garret Ace 250, 350, or ATpro

Hi all. I am new to this site.....actually I am relatively new to detecting (1year) . I was given a cheap metal detector last year for christmas to see if I liked doing it.....well lets just say my yard now looks like a bombimg rangeI will attach a photo that shows some of the "stuff" my yard holdsafter i figure out how to decrease the photo size. Anyways my cheap detector handle broke so I snagged my dads pilot which he also recieved last year and never used it. Its easy to use and found alot more "stuff" than mine but i would like to invest in a better one. I have been looking at the Ace 250, 350 and AT pro. I was just wondering if I should go to the AT or save money and go with the Ace250/350. My Bro-in-law got the Pioneer Legacy3500 this year also and I have been checking them out too......any help would be appreciated.

Atpro is water proof and vdi with ground balance 599.00 or ace350 it has a bigger and a few more notches than the 250, 349.00 or ace250 is a great metal detector for the money, 212.00 I guess its a matter of choice. What ever you get people here can help you if you have questions about the detector, HHH.

If money is not an issue by all means get the AT PRO. From all I have read and questions I have
asked, the 350 is not worth the extra $ over the 250.

ok so the 250 or the AT pro.....I just dont want to decide a year later that I want a better machine.

If you get the atpro make sure its the upgraded machine with the cam locks.

Like I said above. If $ is not an issue, by all means get the AT PRO. If you get the AT you will be happy for years to come.

I really like my 350 but I plan to go with the AT PRO in a couple weeks because it is water proof has the VDI and manual ground balance. I have found several coins with my 350 (check my previous posts)

Nirros,

The advice you receive from the members here is good, but before making a final choice, you should go through the process of determining what kind of metal detecting you are most interested in at this time. Avail yourself of the full measure of resources being offered here before spending your hard-earned dollars.

Click-on the www.kellycodetectors.com banner at the top of this page, then scroll down the left side of the Kellyco home page until you reach Kellyco's Online Library, then go a little ways down that list and click-on Top 5 Questions to Ask. This will help you focus on what you really want in a detector.

After doing the above, you can also give Kellyco a call at one of the numbers below and talk with one of their trained counselors about your choice(s). This is all free at no obligation and you can still buy at a dealer of your choice.

Good luck and good hunting !

I will be coin and jewelry shooting the majority of the time but i also live close to a War of 1812 Fort and have a couple land owners lined up. Will the larger coil allow me to relic hunt for these relics a little deeper and more precise than the stock ones?

Knowing what I know now I would go ahead and graduate on up to the ATPro. I have an ACE 250 and a new ATPro and the Pro isn't much harder to learn to operate than the 250. And if you do buy the 250 or 350 it will just be a matter of time before you will want to move up to the Pro. It happens to all of us before we settle on a detector we really come to depend on. That's the one thing I love about Garrett products. They are usually easy to learn to operate. Onus

So I really like and want the ATPro but a tad out of my price range right now.....unless I can strike a good hole with the pilot....very unlikely. So I guess my question is will the Ace 350 with a larger coil be good for relics? I cant hunt heavily uneven terrain or use a standard shovel (bad legs) so i plan to stick to the fields and such.

Hi Nirros :)

I assume you read my post January 09, 2012 10:01PM......Did you try any of these suggestions ?

Todd

Yes Todd i read that awhile ago. I actually frequent kellyco alot and I know thats where I will get my machine. I am just wondering if I can save a buck .....I am leaning toward the ATpro after talking to my uncle who reminded me there are alot of places to MD in lake ontario by wading.........come to think of it i will need a boat if I go that route....hahaha. Thanks for the response!

You are certainly welcome and I wish you all the best !

This is a NO Brainer...If you have the cash for the AT Pro...That is what you should get...You won't regret it...

HH,

As luck would have it....My uncle the coin guru offered me a couple hundred towards it if he gets some of my finds. He has a rather extensive coin collection and wants to add to it but cant MD or anything. I told him I will think about it but I can think of no better person to share rarities with. He also would like the 1812 era relics I might find.
