Garret 2500

Hello everyone ,I am new here, I was wondering if the Garrett 2500 will find gold? also how set it up to find gold? I have owned this machine for about 2 months. the ground where we go is very materialized so it is very sensitive.. buzz's a lot.. how do i discriminate the bad from good.. I use the all metal mode..sensitivity on 7 threshold on 7 and do not know if i am ground blanching or not.. any help would be appreciated..thanks

It will find gold jewelry and the like, but as for gold nuggets, it is not made for that task. I have only used one once, so I can not give a very accurate setup for it to find gold jewlery, but I am sure some one will pitch in.

For tiny pieces of gold, I would use the sniper coil or the 5" x 10" DD. The DD will handle the mineralization better. The best depth you will get is in the true all metal mode, ground balanced.

Any detector will find a large pies of gold, however, with the right coil, settings and machine you CAN get the tinier pieces of gold.

Good luck! Hope you find the big one.

I've never found any gold nuggets, but I have found 3 gold rings, my first by the way in the last three Saturdays. 1 rang up at 3, 1 at 4 and 1 at 5 on my top graphic. From what I have heard on these forums it wil find the gold, but I'm not as experienced as a lot of the other members.

I have found many gold nuggets with my GTI 2500. I have also put on this forum somewhere how to set it up for that...just do a search of my post with my user name. Basically if the 2500 can handle the ground and is not too noisy the stock 9.5" coil or the 4.5" sniper are the most sensitive. DD coils handle the hot ground better, but you loose sensitivity to smaller gold per the way a DD coil is designed. Do'nt expect to find many nuggets smaller than .5 gram or the size of a BB or pellet.
To get smaller nuggets you'll need the AT Gold or similar...Good Luck!

Alan
