Gang of detectors

The snow is here, the ground is frozen, and my mind is taking me to strange places. I own 4 MD's. I've been trying to think of a way to make a sled, if you will, out of non-metallic components so that I can mount all 4 MDs and cover a big area, like a corn field.

I'd appreciate any input at all on this hairbrained idea.

Probably going to be difficult to pull off because 4 detectors so close together gonna cause alot of interference with one another. I would think.
Best of luck & HH.

I've read abut guys mounting their detectors to the front of an atv and driving the wheat stubble fields in Kansas to hunt for meteorites, but never 3 or 4 together. You would get to much cross talk between them. HH Ed in co.

I saw a youtube video where a guy had a dozen coils configured on some coccamamie contraption with wheels on it, he was pulling it across a hillside in England or somewhere...Winter time is for inventing! I often thought about a coil on a 16' pole, where a fellow could slowly work a boat just at the dropoff of some of these old lakes trying to hit the spots where an old swimming raft was, and then dropping anchor, and going down in there with a wire trash can basket and just scooping up everything in that radius.

Hi,
This is called cabin fever.

Do you plan to use a pickaxe to dig your targets out of the frozen ground ??

Have fun

There is a detecting blanket that looks like a tarp you can pull over most terrain. I think a detecting shop in Arizona sells them. Might do a search of the videos. Seems like the Meteorite Men used one whatever that is worth.

Thanks for the replies guys. Actually, I was thinking along the lines of maybe a cart with wood or plastic wheels and axles and I would wait until spring Skookum SO'S I DON'T HAVE TO USE A PICK AX!
I'll have to see what kind of distance between the coils is needed. If the Limey's can get'er done then I guess we can too.

Mud, the trouble with your idea is that most fishermen like beer and guess where all the cans are? Recently I had access to a spot on a lake where rich people used to gather to watch the Ivy League rowing races . I had visions of silver dollars but ended up with nothing but muddy cans.

HH guys, mac

Hi togamac,
Oh, I see.
I just thought because you said : "The snow is here....I've been trying to think of a way to make a sled" - that you wanted to detect in the winter time.
Guess you meant something more in the line of a wooden stone boat.
Well, if you tug something that is behind you by means of a pull rope, the detectors would be a couple of feet to your rear.
You would have a hard time then, hearing when a detector is making a beep if you hit a target, since you can

Skook, that's interesting stuff about the archeoligist's rig; I had never heard of such a thing. I'll try to do some research on that. Thanks, Mac

I love this idea. I saw a guy who'd done the same thing with lawn mowers. He had an atv and was pulling 4 walk behind mowers attached side by side to some kind of rail. I remember initially laughing, but then realizing that the guy probably had less than $200 into the contraption (if he used curb found mowers, which they appeared to be) and thinking that was a great idea.
