gamma 6000 8" coil question

Is the stock coil water tight? I ask because today I got it wet ( not submerged) and wiped off a leaf with my hand and when I brushed my hand over the coil it was just like the other post on the t2 from another user. As a static sound when touched. But when it's dry it's fine. I'm thinking it is fine, just more sensitive due to the water, but I don't wanna submerge it till I get a response, I would think today's coils are all water tight but I don't know either. Thanks for any help on this.

Hi johndoe1 ! :)

I looked around on the Teknetics website, but couldn't find anything saying the standard 8" spoked coil for the Gamma was "waterproof"..However, at the Kellyco site on the page titled Teknetics Metal Detecting Accessories they advertise a COILTEK waterproof coil for the Alpha, Delta, Gamma, Omega & G

Thanks toddb64, yeah I also looked through my manual, and the net and didn't find any thing saying waterproof. Thanks for the info. I'll try and get email Monte tonight.

johndoe1,

You know, I totally forgot to look at the accessories list on the back of my Gamma manual !

I just took a look and under the subtitle Replacement/Accessory Search Coils they are advertising a 5" Biaxial coil #5COIL-Tek for $159.95 (it looks just like the 10" COILTEK at Kellyco for $179.00 !). I'm thinking this 5" would probably be waterproof too, but you would have to check that to be sure. And, a 5" would be closer to a true sniper class coil, if you want something for Tot-Lots and/or finding good targets next to trash in other heavily trashed areas. See if Monte has this one in stock or could order it in for you.

Thanks again.
