Game tokens keep popping up

JMC

New member
As I've been mining the yards these two type items keep coming up. Game or amusement tokens of some kind at this point up to over a dozen of them. No place currently in town where you might use them. Has anyone else found some of these and do you know any history on them? When the Compadre gets here I'll be able to find them deeper.

hey JMC, I have found a few of those here in Idaho. I havent done any research on them yet though. Ive been finding them in the same substrate as 1940-50 wheat pennies.Where are you finding them?

They are showing up at two home sites I've been working. My own and the property behind. Our place is 1883 and the other 1893. Both have been active home sites since being built. They end up being around 4 to 5 inches deep in our sandy Florida soil. All have been found near either what were walks or near where vehicles would have been parked. I've yet to find one in the same exact hole as a coin. So far the largest percentage of coins have been the last 40 years with a few going to the 1940s and fewer still back to 1907.

I hope this is ok, if not, my apologies -- but I found some good info on these tokens on another MD forum. The link is posted below.

So we now know these things have been found in NH, FL, and ID, and originated in OK. Quite the distribution.

And they're pretty old.
