Galveston Island

New to metal detecting. We just got our 1st metal detector. We have heard that maybe it is not legal to metal detect on some beaches in Galveston or on Galveston Island, but we can't seem to find a definite answer. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance,

Mark and Cindy

You can hunt any public beach on the island except in the State Park area.
Stewarts Beach and East Beach are the most popular beaches so those are the ones that most people hunt.

Thank you, Mr. Beard. Do you know where someone can find the written law on this or where it spcifically defines where you can/can't metal detect?

Check out the Beach posts and you could PM Gulf Hunter to ask him about the law. He probably won't give you his detecting spot locations but he does hunt quite a lot on Galveston Beaches.;)

Thank you again, Mr. Beard. We just got our detector and are planning a trip to Galveston tomorrow (Saturday) for our 1st detector outing. We're looking forward to this, should be fun. I will check out the beach forum and Gulf Hunter. Thanks again,

Mark and Cindy

When I was there last a deputy sheriff said I should go to County Beach. I didn't make it there but? Onus
