I have kept mine at 7 because I am thinking a higher setting would be for someone with hearing problems.
Is this what it's for or will my deep old coin finds increase if I crank it up? I'm a coinshooter and don't much care for clad but I do dig shallow dimes and quarters.
 
I have good hearing and would like to keep it that way. Carl (UpstateNY) recommended this level. Audio response is partially amplified. Preset is 5.
according to manual, "at 10 all but the weakest signals will be amplified to a very strong audio response but no indication of size or strength of target signal can be deduced in this case, but even weak target signals will be easier to hear." page 54
