Gaffers tape

My dad used gaffers tape for many years in audio-visual applications (things like taping cables across the floor) and it's perfect for anywhere you don't want to leave a sticky mess afterward. It holds great and doesn't leave any residue when you remove it. It can also be torn to any width or size by hand. I've used it for multiple things with my detectors including covering the speaker on my Pro-Pointer, taping the doors on my DeLeon battery compartment and wrapping where the rods connect on my detector that doesnt have a screw type locking mechanism.

You can find numerous listings for gaffers tape on eBay, and I know Grainger also sells it. It's not cheap. Depending on where you buy it, $10-$25 per roll. But a roll lasts a long time. I use 2", but it also comes in 1" and 3". I use black, but it comes in all different colors.

I'd have to agree...great stuff

Thanks for the info. I've used Duct tape for the same sorts of use, but it does leave a residue.

Hey BarberBill.

I've been reading the posts on this forum for about 7 or 8 months.

There are a lot of good people on here who have been extremely generous with advice and tips that I've learned so much from.

Unfortunately as a newbie I haven't really been able to reciprocate because the knowledge level isn't there yet.

I appreciate the acknowledgement from someone whose posts I've enjoyed and learned from, as a fellow Tesoro (DeLeon and Compadre) user.

I'm glad I was finally able to return the favor and share a good tip.

Once you use gaffers tape you won't want to be without it.
