Hi everyone I'm new to the site but not detecting,I've been using a ace 250 for 3 years now and want to upgrade I've read a lot on the g2 and watched the videos and thought about getting one but when I found this site I noticed there wasn't much said about it it seems most use the T2,is the id on the t2 better than the g2? I live in lagrange ga and we have some bad red clay its like a brick in places so could I get some help on which is better Imostly hunt for coins and jewelry and would like to be able to hunt the wet sand beaches around florida ,thanks for your help and happy hunting

Rusty,

Hey the G2 is a great all around detector. I use it when the nails are so bad you cannot even hear anything else. But, it is not a depth demon, like the T2 or the Omega. Now I live in Georgia as well, and I have been in places the normal detector could not even ground balance. As, far as detecting goes, you need to see what type of hunting you will be doing. And then you can make a better choice. Let me know if you need help.

Ken

Nice to meet you and thanks for getting back with me so quick.Could you tell me how it is in places that have bunch of foil and can slaw and if you can tell the difference with the numeric id.
Thanks again

My 1st thought is that you have made two posts on the Findmall Forums and they are both the start and an addition ion this thread. This makes me wonder more about what your hunting style is, as well as the types of sites you hunt. Which search coil(s) you plan to use. Naturally, if looking for jewelry you might also need a good deal of patience.

And 2nd, I ALWAYS wonder just what someone means when they say they want to 'UPGRADE.' Unless you're clear about what features or performance you don't have, or which ones you think you need, it's hard for anyone to really help with an upgrade idea. So, share what it is you are looking for in both features and performance, if you don't mind.

A question or two:

Have you used any search coil other than the stock coil?

Which Discrimination program do you use?

Do you do any additional segment notching in addition to the set program?

If so, what do you notch out and why?

Why types of sites do you generally hunt? Rocky? Bare dirt or sand? Grassy? Urban settings or rural?

In the 3 years you have been using the Ace 250, about how many times do you get out detecting in a typical week? How many detecting hours do you put in during an average week?

Finally, why did you get the Ace 250 to begin with, and what things do you like about the Ace 250?

Question: Can you define just what an 'upgrade' is to you? I mean, which adjustment features would you like to have? What display information, if any, interests you? What, specifically, is it that you feel is a short-coming of the Ace 250 that you want or need to enhance or change?

Watching the videos and reading the forum postings, what has attracted you to the G2?

There is a separate G2 Forum, but I think at this point your post here might be more valuable to you because it can cover the G22, but all the other Teknetics models as well. It's quite possible that another model would suit you better, based upon what you really want or need.

For some people, the T2, and other Teknetics models might be 'better' because they are often coin hunters and some prefer to have the Target ID segment identified by common trash (Iron or Screw Cap) or as a particular coin, such as 5
