G2 stock coil vs 5x10"

John(Tx)

New member
With the stock coil I have been finding a measured 8" silver dimes. Will the 5x10 do any better/will it handle any better than the stock? Just trying to justify the expense of buying one. Thanks for any info. HH John

The stock coil does run very smooth too. The 5x10" will be better in iron trash. In damp ground my 5x10 will hit my 7 1/2" test clad dime but it is a very weak sound. In real hunting I don't know if the 10dd can hit on an 8" silver dime. The stock coil looks like it gains about 1" in depth over the 10dd. I would say if you are hunting a lot of trashy areas you will like the 10dd. If you are not hunting in trashy areas I wouldn't change. The one thing I like about the 10dd is it has a long cable so you can go out deeper in the water with it.

Nice answer Rick, and you will love that coil....
