G2 guys, are you holding out, or aren't there very many of you?

The few G2 users who have spoken up, have convinced me. My G2 will ship Monday. I have enjoyed the people who have commented on their new Teknetics but wonder if there are more? I have been looking for the instructions online, hoping to get a head start on the learning curve, but haven't found them yet. Realistically, I have plenty of time to learn the machine because Indiana is about to freeze solid again. If you have any good G2 input or suggestions for learning this new machine, please let me know.

We are holding out as we don't want the rest of you to know how GREAT of a detector this little G2 REALLY IS!!!-----Many of us (G2 owners)?----Don't know but I can guarantee you the list is/will be growing.---Settings, etc. has been "gone over" here some already so I'm not going into that again.----IMO, the thing that REALLY makes the G2 "shine" is it's ability to handle the nastiest iron pits you could possibly imagine (and I've owned/used mucho detectors).-----Let me put it this way, when you get some "swing time" in with the G2---I'LL BET you're going to think a couple of times before you pick up "old faithful" (before the G2) in heavy trash.-----It's got a lot of other things going for it also but the trash handling ability alone makes it "worth it's weight in gold".---------Del

Thanks guys. I am so ready to have the beast here. I am pretty sure Indiana weather is headed back into the freezer, but I can play even if I can't dig.
I really struggled with this decision. I have so many places that a little help with iron could make a huge difference. I will be pretty pleased if some of my formerly good areas can give up just a few more great targets. I appreciate you guys commenting. I will keep you posted if I do get a chance to get outside.

The G-2 is very quite but don't let that fool you. If I am hunting coins and jewelry I run Disc. 40 Sens. 90+ and do very well. The G-2 really is a machine that will hit on targets in hard hunted areas. Trash is not a problem except for bottle caps. They have a sound of their own. What I have found is that if I check the signal out to the tip of the coil and it does'nt change dig it. If it is iron the signal will change everytime. If sound and TID remains the same dig it. Try that and I think you will find this very helpful. Good luck with your new machine. HH :teknetics::minelab:

hershey---Good point on the b.c.'s.-----You can come off of either the toe or heel OR use the edging procedue in checking for b.c.'s on the G2.----I am a little cautious (yet) in raising the coil to check for them with the G2 (like is done with some other detectors).---That may work out ok to but I'm just afraid of missing a good target with the coil height thing--I'd rather be safe than sorry.----I'll be experimenting more along those lines as I get more "swing time" in with this GREAT little detector.-----Watching those flashing #'s is a dead give away also, this little machine locks on to good targets "pretty well" (especially when coin hunting).----That's been my experience so far anyway & where I've been hunting.---------Del

I was very interested in the G2 and the GBSE, and followed all the online reports here with great interest. From everything I've read, they look like great machines, but ultimately their more geared towards relic hunting (and of course prospecting) and I don't need another FT relic hunting machine. I need something that can compete with the amazing silver sniffing ability of the Etrac...the Omega does a pretty good job, but I know it's not going to get the depth the ET does on deep silver (especially smaller dime/half dime coins).

Seems like FT is about due for a new machine any time....so I'm hopeful that their next machine will be a high end coin shooter with a frequency less then or equal too the Omega, with the iron handling capabilities of the Omega or G2/GBSE, and depth of the ET.

The GBSE/G2 does still interest me as a salt water beach hunter though, but I'd like to see some more user feedback on that use.

I used my F75 LTD over the weekend and man I really hate digging those 8" deep folded beaver tails :ranting:

you echo my sentiments exactly!..i believe it's on the way!
maybe be here for the "spring" market?...hope so!
