Went out today for a short hunt in the woods of a local park. Everything was going well and I had just found the smallest silver coin you have ever seen ( a 1/4 Mexican coin dated 1843)! ...when all of a sudden my G2 started becoming very unstable (very similar to EMI interferrance). I tried lowering the sensitivity, new battery and then tried to tun off and back on and ground balance....could not get it to properly ground balance it was giving numbers like 10 and 11 (my soil is normally 55-64. I walked around all over the woods trying to find a spot to ground balance...it was like there was metal everywhere...meanwhile in disc mode VERY noisy and erratic. Finally got very upset and just left. I have hunted in this same spot several times before with NO problems. I had recently bought a G2 for a friend down in Ky and had it at home to take to him this holiday weekend, so I decided to go home , get it and take it to a local school to see if I could swap coils to see if my coil has gone bad. Got to the school and MY G2 was fine. Now I am very concerned, this holiday weekend I will be relic hunting down south for 5 days and I just sold my Omega which was my back-up machine. I have been kicking around buying a Minelab X-terra 705, maybe I should just go ahead and buy it, as I am really worried I will be down south and the G2 will go haywire again. Only 3 months old...bummer.
