a definite winner for me. Okay, I am somewhat biased towards some Teknetics models, but I am really biased towards what I use. I use what I like, and I like what works. The G2, like my Omega, 'works!'
I headed off to the Oregon coastal beach but we don't have the luxury of nice weather and great finds like the California or Florida or other key beach locations. Still, I found the G2 with the stock 11" BiAxial DD coil to work quite well.
Inland, I do use an 11" DD coils from time-to-time, but a lot of my urban coin hunting gets done with the Omega and either the stock 10' elliptical concentric or the 5" round DD. I used the 5" DD for the entire month of September and I really like it, a lot. Then I went back to the 10" elliptical for a little better coverage at some sites, but I also have a number of vacant lots and building tear-down sites on my hit list. At them I had done well with the 5" DD on the Omega. Then came the G2 to evaluate and I worked it with every coil I have. yes, all of them, including the 8" and 10" concentric coils, and the 10" concentric worked fine for me at several locations. Still, the 11" stock coil does what it does quite well and I settled on it until I stuck the 5" DD on. That's where my 5" coil stays, now, so I just grab the Omega w/10" elliptical for more open use and the G2 w/5" DD for the trashier sites.
When I worked the G2 at the lots and old home-sites with the 5" DD coil, it was terrific! I re-hunted several places where I had been with the Omega & 5" combo, but the G2 works differently, and the Discrimination favors my likes. You might have read my review on the G2 that I posted back on October 30th and I can only tell you that I am more pleased with the G2 now than I was then. I've been able to head to the coast and head back into a few sites that have been tough to pull good targets due to the blanket of junk. With the 10" elliptical concentric on the Omega and 5" DD on the G2, I keep the 11" DD handy on a spare lower rod because I can go to it, with either detector, when I feel the need arises. Until then, both of these detectors are ready-to-hunt with a coil that I feel favors their performance design.
