G2 at the beach question

Crikhunter

New member
Just purchased a G2 as my first machine. Live in southeast Florida not too far from the beach. Has anyone used their G2 at the beach? I know only the coil is submersible but wondered if it would work at waters edge?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Why is that?

have to turn sens right down in disc lose a lot of depth in wet sand just my experence i use a PI machine in the wet sand its the way to go and what they are made for, bug isnt made for wet sand.

OK.
Our club had a beach hunt Saturday and afterwards I made a quick run at waters edge for my first time wet . Zip. I did find $6.05 and 2 tokens in the dry sand planted hunt. Also 16 dimes and nickels after it was over (8/:geek:. I forgot to crank up sens after I GBd and didn't notice it for 20 minutes. I am sure that didn't help. I guess I was focused otherwise. I've only had the Gold Bug 2 weeks, so things are not automatic yet. July 4 is coming and I'll make another attempt to plunder the coast!

Ground balance is of utmost importance on the Gold Bug,s and G2 when hunting the wet sand. You just can't do the auto ground balance and be done with it. You then have to check the numbers and manaually ground balance after that to get it spot on, or a little pos/neg to make it run smooth.

Here in NJ, I can run my Gold Bug SE at almost 95% sensitivity, in discrminate mode, and it will hit a thin gold band at 7 inches in the wet sand. Not super depth, but since it has lightning fast recovery speed, super target separation abilities with the DD coils, and great in iron laden sites, it's a trade off when the conditions are right.

Not even close depth wise compared to my CZ or PI units, but I can't run those units with the same performance when the wet sand areas are full of small rusty objects.

Horses for courses, and there are conditions when the Gold Bug or G2 can be a top unit.

Going to the Beach on the 8th, I CANT WAIT to get the GOLD and coins and all.
