G2 and Omega coil interchange

:nerd:From what I read the 7.8 Omega coil will work on the G2 . WHY? Is it a multible of 7.8 in some way? Do coils for the Omega work perfectly on the G2 or are you giving up a little performance in frequency. The reasom I ask is I have an Omega with a 11" dd. Could I use the 11" DD on the G2 without a loss of a little performance? Are Omega coils and G2 coils exactly compatable? If they are compleatly comparible I would need to find a dealer that would substitute the 11" for a 5"DD. Then all 3 main coils would work.

The main thing I am asking is are the coils for the Omega a handy substitute that almost are as good as a coil tuned to G2 frenquency? Or are Omega coils exactly the same as the G2 coil with no loss in performance.

It kinda leeds me to believe this would be a good detector to make into a dual frequency due to the compatability of the different frequencies working on the same coil.. Flip the switch from silver detector to gold detedtor. It looks like both share the same housing and such. OH! A little waterproffing wouldn't hurt

Just a few questions and a idea.
